Passport and Visa Information:
Your passports must be valid for at least 6 months for a visa to be issues. The Indian visa system has been outsourced in most countries this reduces the time spent in queues but means you need to allow at least one week. the visa becomes valid on issue. Visa application system UK:

What to bring: It is advisable to keep your luggage to a minimum less to worry about and more space for shopping. (laundry possible at most hotels) Warm clothes for the cooler nights. Very comfortable closed walking shoes Teva or other sandals Sunglasses/Sun hat Umbrella/Parasol (useful year round for either rain or sun) Raincoat/ (Seasonal July-Sept)
NB: During the cold months of December and January: VERY warm clothes and sleeping bag are recommended.
